The proposed Sydney Domestic Precinct Seventh Street Multi-Storey Carpark is bounded by Shiers Avenue to the north, Keith Smith Avenue to the south and an existing taxi re-fuelling station and queuing area to the east. The site is an existing on-grade carpark with small buildings and vegetation to be demolished to construct the new building. The north-western corner of the site and part of Seventh Street extends into the zone of influence of the Airport Rail Link train tunnel.
The objective of the works is to increase the capacity of the existing carparking facilities for the Domestic Airport through the construction of a multi-storey carpark. The principal components of the works comprise the design and construction of:
- a wide span structure up to level 7 capable of supporting possible future expansion to 10 levels, as well as provision for possible future connection via ramps and/or bridges to the north, east or west;
- vertical transport systems, including 2 lifts;
- facade cladding comprising perforated aluminium screens and glazed aluminium windows to a feature stair on the western elevation; and
- the complete realignment of the on-grade carpark aisles and bays within the footprint of the building to accommodate the new building alignment and rationalisation of the existing parking and proposed traffic routes, including all necessary in-ground services relocations or diversion.
