Women from Abigroup visit Bulk Water Alliance
09 April 2010
A cross-section of 25 women, largely from Abigroup's NSW site-based operations, travelled to the ACT recently to tour Bulk Water Alliance (BWA) projects and to network as part of the women@abigroup initiative.
Objectives of women@abigroup include providing women working for Abigroup with greater access to formal and informal networking opportunities, mentoring and leadership programs.
The event included a presentation by BWA Senior Project Manager John Vida on the technical aspects of constructing the Enlarged Cotter Dam, followed by a site visit led by Superintendent Kel Helmers and a BBQ with the project team.
The group then moved on to visit Googong Dam Spillway where Project Manager Ben Greentree provided an overview before conducting a site tour.
Beyond the site tours and networking the group enjoyed learning about how the team is overcoming some of the project's construction challenges including the use of Roller Compacted Concrete.
