Abigroup has been appointed to deliver the civil balance of plant component including roadworks and wind turbine foundation structures for the Oaklands Hill Wind Farm near Glenthompson in Western Victoria.
When completed, the Oaklands Hill Wind Farm will have an installed capacity of 63MW. The green energy produced by the wind farm will power the equivalent of approximately 35,000 average Australian households per year, with emissions savings of over 185,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases per annum.
“This is a great opportunity for us to work with Suzlon in the rapidly developing renewable energy sector” said Abigroup’s Managing Director David Jurd. “This latest project joins our diverse national project stable which includes projects from mining and telecommunications work to water infrastructure, roads, building and renewable energy.”
Client, Suzlon Energy Australia, is a major turnkey provider of grid connected wind farm infrastructure, operations and maintenance services in Australia.
The Oaklands Hill Wind Farm is an AGL Energy Ltd project. AGL is the largest private owner, operator and developer of renewable generation assets in Australia.
Preparatory works on the project have now commenced and, with a significant portion of the works due to be completed by August 2010, the project team will work to a tight program in coming months.
