Sydney schools to be upgraded by Abigroup as part of Building the Education Revolution

Abigroup is proud to have been named as one of seven successful tenderers to be appointed to the Nation Building Education team that will undertake thousands of building projects at schools across the state through 2009 and 2010.
In an announcement on 16 April, NSW Premier Nathan Rees stated that the best project delivery companies in the country are now working on local projects in NSW. It is estimated that the program will create almost 9,000 jobs in the state.
“The Federal and State Governments are to be congratulated on the streamlined tender process, allowing these first stimulus funds to flow directly to the economy,” said Abigroup’s Managing Director David Jurd. “Our team should also be recognised for the hard work which delivered this quality submission in record time.”
“Our NSW Building Business now has cause to be confident about the future, and this confidence will flow through our local subcontractors to the broader community, delivering precisely the desired effect of a stimulus initiative.”
Abigroup also has plans in place to optimise the stimulus its work will provide to the local economy.
“We will continue to manage the balance between driving value for money by bundling sites together for efficient delivery and by providing smaller packages to enable smaller builders to participate,” said Mr Jurd.
Abigroup is active in the provision of educational facilities across Australia, having delivered a large number of universities, research and training facilities across the Eastern Seaboard. Most recently, Abigroup (as part of the Axiom Consortium) was awarded the contract to construct 11 Victorian schools under a Public Private Partnership arrangement.
