The Village Balgowlah project has won a major national award from the Property Council of Australia.
The development won the Woodhead Award for Best Mixed Use Development at the 2011 Innovation & Excellence Awards which were held in Sydney on Saturday 14 May.
The Awards are regarded as the property industry’s ‘best of the best’ and recognise excellence in the built environment, sustainability in development and innovation as well as celebrating the achievements of the sector’s finest professionals and companies.
Abigroup’s NSW Building Manager George Bardas said, “I would like to congratulate The Village Balgowlah team on winning this prestigious award.
“This high quality and successful development thoroughly deserves this latest accolade which was won against other high quality competing projects.”
The Village Balgowlah development was built by Abigroup for Stockland and has already won a number of industry awards including the 2008 Housing Industry Association GreenSmart Development Design Concept award and the 2010 NSW Professional Excellence in Building Awards from the Australian Institute of Building.
The development, which was built on the site of the former Totem shopping centre on Sydney’s northern beaches, includes a 15,000m2 shopping centre, 234 apartments in six residential towers, a fitness centre, a Masonic club and three levels of basement parking catering for 1050 vehicles.
