Abigroup raises over $90,000 through national Movember competition
14 January 2011
Abigroup raised $90,085 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue: the national depression awareness initiative in the company’s first ever national Movember competition.
Twenty three teams from Abigroup project sites and offices around Australia took part in the competition to raise the most money through growing moustaches throughout the month of November.
Abigroup’s National Environment and Sustainability Manager Sarah Marshall said the response to the competition has been fantastic.
“We really weren’t sure how much money we would raise being the first year we have supported Movember on a national level, but $90,000 is far beyond what any of us expected.
“A huge thanks goes to the team captains and those people within each group who really got on board with the initiative, organising fundraising BBQs and kept the momentum throughout the entire campaign.”
First prize was won by the “WooMOmargama” team from the Hume Highway Woomargama Alliance who raised $16,795 and were presented with a special hand-made trophy manufactured in Abigroup’s plant yard at Mount Kuring-gai.
