24 September 2010
Abigroup, as part of the Hume Highway Southern Alliance (HHSA), has been Highly Commended for the Southern Hume Highway Duplication: Woomargama to Table Top project.
The award was presented at the 2010 Engineers Australia Sydney Division’s Engineering Excellence Awards which were held in Sydney on Friday 17 September.
Abigroup, together with Alliance partners the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW and SKM, were recognised in the Project Management category which “provides for the management of a project or an engineering work which achieves client requirements in harmony with the environment, business and community considerations, while meeting time, cost and quality targets.”
The project was also a finalist in the Infrastructure Projects category as well as being the only road project to be recognised as a finalist in either category.
After the event HHSA Alliance Manager Cameron Silverthorne said, “Following the team’s success at other awards events recently including the Alliance Contracting Excellence Awards and CCF Earth Awards it is pleasing to now be recognised at the industry’s premier awards event for our engineering and construction achievements on the project.
“A special thank you to the entire HHSA team for its contribution to this high quality project which continues to be recognised throughout the industry,” Cameron said.
The HHSA successfully delivered 32km of freeway standard duplication of the Hume Highway in south western NSW.
The highway opened four months ahead of schedule and was under budget. The project offered a “step change” improvement in the quality of concrete paved roadway with innovations in construction approach.
