Abigroup to restore historic Maryborough railway station

Abigroup has been awarded a $5 million contract from V/Line to restore the historic Maryborough railway station in Victoria back to operational status and to construct a new platform at Creswick railway station.
Greg Rush, Abigroup's General Manager Rail, said, “We are delighted to be awarded this important contract which will pave the way for the return of passenger rail services for Maryborough."
The major capital works required at Maryborough Station include:
- re-establishing passenger and staff facilities;
- upgrading the platform surface;
- provision of ticketing systems;
- a bus interchange; and
- additional car parking.
Abigroup will also be constructing secure passenger train stabling facilities in Maryborough which includes driver/crew facilities and drivers' paths and lighting.
The work at Creswick Station involves constructing a new single faced platform and station car parking.
Work is due for completion in July 2010.
